INLAY-ONLAY RESTORATION
Inlays and onlays have been developed as an alternative to dental crowns, as they require less tooth shaving than dental crowns. Inlays & Onlays can be made of Gold, Porcelain, Zirconium or Composite resin material.
Gold inlays are very strong and are a very difficult material to break. Zirconium, Porcelain, and Composite Inlays and Onlays are all tooth-colored and provide a more natural appearance during restoration, such as smile design.
The Benefits of Inlay and Onlay
- Inlays & Onlays have a longer service life than simple white-silver filling methods.
- Inlay & Onlay is made in a laboratory. Therefore, it is less likely to experience tooth loss during attachment to the tooth.
- Porcelain options are less likely to stain and discolor.
- Alternative solutions such as white fillings usually shrink while hardening, which can then cause tooth sensitivity. But there is no tooth sensitivity in inlays and onlays.
